Lawrence J. Popkin
Larry joined the firm in 2004, became a partner in 2006 and Managing Member in 2008. Larry is not new to the Oregon Coast. In 1993 after graduating from Portland State University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance-Law, he moved to Astoria where he co-founded AREA Properties, Inc., a real estate brokerage. While Larry experienced great success as an owner of the business and as a sales person, he was determined to seek other adventures and in 2000 he set off for Indianapolis, Indiana to attend law school at Indiana University School of Law (J.D., 2002).
While in Indiana, Larry clerked for Former Chief Justice John Paul Godich of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. During the summer of 2001 Larry attended Renmin University School of Law in Beijing, China. During the remainder of his law school education he worked at a Legal Aid Clinic in Indianapolis and also interned for the law firm of Plews, Shadley, Racher and Braun. In addition Larry interned for a real estate and estate planning firm in Lake Oswego, Oregon and worked for a land use attorney in Seattle, Washington.
In 2003 Larry became licensed to practice law in both Oregon and Texas. In fall of 2003 Larry attended the University of Washington School of Law to earn a Masters in Taxation (LL.M. Taxation, 2004). Larry remains licensed as a real estate broker. Larry is a past-president of the Clatsop County Bar Association, having served from March 2007 until December 2021. He has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations throughout his professional career.
Larry draws on his business experience running small businesses as well as his real estate sales experience in providing representation to his business and real estate clients. While Larry is a full-time attorney, he also owns and operates a residential and commercial real estate brokerage serving primarily the N. Oregon Coast and the greater Portland area – Popkin Real Estate, LLC.
